The North Texas Soccer Association is one of only a handful of outdoor associations that recognize and sanction Indoor Soccer.
Indoor soccer began in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the late 1970's in gymnasiums around the area. There was no turf. All games were played on gym floors. This game, known as gym soccer, was the beginning of what has developed into a very popular sport in this area.

How are Teams Formed?
Indoor soccer is available to all youth players ages 4 to 18 and to all adults regardless of age. Most facilities offer adult "open" divisions which requires all players to be 18 or older as well as over 30 divisions. Some are now offering over 40 divisions.
Teams are formed by bringing an existing outdoor team into the facility or by combining two or more outdoor teams to form an indoor team. Players do not have to be registered outdoor. Some players, both youth and adult, chose to play indoor only. Although most facilities offer all youth divisions, players who are 17 or older sometimes chose to play in the adult leagues. This does not affect their outdoor youth status but any player who is 17 must have a provisional release signed by North Texas allowing him/her to play in an adult league. 18 year olds can chose to play youth or adult but must purchase a youth ID card in order to retain their youth status for outdoor play.
Indoor offers a variety of skill levels and age levels. Most facilities have a placement system for individual players who don't have a team.
