North Texas alum wins National Championship with Stanford

Former North Texas soccer player Madison Haley claimed a National Championship title while competing with Stanford University at the 2019 NCAA Women’s College Cup. On Dec. 8, Stanford defeated University of North Carolina in kicks from the mark after neither team was able to find the back of the net in regulation or extra time.

After not appearing in the opening match against Prairie View A&M, Haley found the back of the net in the second round against Hofstra. Haley really shined in the quarterfinals against Brigham Young University and the semifinals against UCLA, where she dished two assists in both matches. The Dallas native also played 110 minutes in the finals against UNC. Haley’s performance throughout the tournament earned her a spot on the College Cup All-Tournament Team.

Winning a national title capped off a very impressive 2019 for Haley. The junior forward was selected to the All-PAC-12 First Team in addition to being named a second team All-American after scoring 11 goals and 14 assists. In addition to her college success, Haley was called into her first senior U.S. National Team camp.

Haley played her club soccer for Dallas Texans 99 in addition to competing with a multitude of U.S. Soccer Youth National Teams. The daughter of former Dallas Cowboy Charles Haley won the 2009 North Texas State Cup title with Texans.
