FRISCO, Texas (Jan. 15, 2018) – North Texas Soccer alum Taryn Torres has been selected to the U.S. Soccer Under-20 Women’s National Team 20-player roster to compete in the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship, to be held Jan. 18-28 in Trinidad & Tobago.

Torres began the tournament on a strong note as she scored the opening goal in the 17th minute against Nicaragua to begin the tournament on Jan. 19.

This marks the second straight call-up for the Frisco, Texas native after she was a part of the U-20 USWNT that competed in the 2017 Nike International Friendlies. Torres would also add an assist to finish with 17 points on the season, which was second on the team. Torres would also score against St. Francis in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. At the end of the season, Torres was named to the ACC Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team.

The midfielder from Frisco, Texas competed with North Texas and Southern Region ODP from 2009-12 and player her club soccer with Dallas Texans and FC Dallas. The U-20 WNT will begin play Jan. 19 against Nicaragua before playing Jamaica on Jan. 21 and wrapping up group play against Mexico on Jan. 23. The USA has won four consecutive CONCACAF Championships, and the top three finishers will qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France.
