North Texas teams combined for 32 wins, 22 losses and 10 draws over their first respective US Youth Soccer National League weekends. Four North Texas teams lead or hold a share the lead at the top of their divisions as 14-Under Girls FC Dallas 06 DPL, 14-Under Girls FC Dallas 06 West, 15-Under Girls DKSC 05 Black and 19-Under Girls Dallas Texans Red all find themselves at the top of the group after four games.
Games began with teams in the 14-Under Girls age group competing Nov. 24-27 in Boca Raton, Fla., followed by the 15-Under through 19-Under girls age groups playing Dec. 5-8 in Wilson, N.C. Panama City Beach, Fla. hosted boys teams in the 15-Under through 19-Under age groups from Dec. 11-15, while teams in the 14-Under Boys age group will play their first set of games Dec. 27-30 in Tampa, Fla.
The winner of each of the four National League divisions in the 14U through 18U age groups, as well as the top two finishers in each of the two divisions in the 19U age group, will earn an automatic berth to the 2020 US Youth Soccer National Championships, the oldest and most prestigious youth soccer national championship competition — to be held July 20-26, 2020 in Overland Park, Kan. The four National League representatives will join the four Regional Champions for a total of eight qualifiers per age group at the National Championships in the 14U through 19U divisions. Most recently in 2019 in Overland Park, Kan., National League teams won all 12 possible National Championships in those age groups.
FC Dallas 06 DPL debuted in the National League in style as the North Texas side shot to the top of the group courtesy of three straight one-goal wins over FC United 2006 Pre-Academy (IL), 06 Lady Lobos Rush Premier (TN) and FC Copa Academy Black (NJ). Deze Scott found the back of the net twice in the three-game winning streak, while Ana Carrera, Ainsley McCammon and Jayla Silveiro would also net their first National League goals. Trinity Armstrong would score against Century Gold 06 (PA-W), but FC Dallas was unable to find a late equalizer in a 2-1 defeat.
FC Dallas 06 West followed a similar formula in their first National League season by rattling off three straight shutout wins. Emma Stewart, Olivia Nevin and Isabella Trevino would score for FC Dallas West to combine with two from Sierra Padilla. FC Dallas West would fall in its final game of the weekend to CUP 06 Gold (OH-S). DKSC 06 Elite earned two scoreless draws over the weekend, but the North Texas side would also fall to CEFC Royal (06) and CFJ South 06 Premier (IL).
Defending Southern Regional Champions FC Dallas 06 Premier make its National League debut Dec. 27 in Tampa, Fla.
Defending National Champions DKSC 05 Black battled SC Wave Juniors 05 (WI) to a scoreless draw, but the 2018-19 National League Red Division champs would notch its first win of the season 4-0 over Sporting STL 05 Academy (MO) courtesy of goals from Rydlii Rives, Saiya Patel, Lauren Woodruff and Kaitlynn Neill. STA 2005 (NJ) would be the only team to score against DKSC, but the two-time Southern Regional champions would gut out a 2-1 win as Woodruff and Rives scored for the second straight game. The floodgates opened in DKSC’s final game of the weekend, resulting in an 8-0 win over 05 Lady Lobos Rush Premier (TN). Woodruff scored four goals to give her six on the weekend, while Rives would score for a third straight game. Patel and Neill would also each notch their second goal of the weekend.
DKSC 05 Carillo was one of three teams in its age group to go undefeated in its National League debut last season, and the North Texas side started this season off in strong form with a 5-0 win against AFFC 05 (PA-W) and a 6-2 win against Pipeline 05 Pre-Academy (MD). Joseph Rodriguez, Edson Marchan and Joshua Martinez each netted goals in both matches, while Ulises Hernandez, Edgar Munoz and Jonathan Jaimes also found the back of the net. DKSC fell 2-0 to Future SA 05 (NJ), but rebounded on the final day of play as Jaimes and Rodriguez would score in a 2-1 win over TUSC 05 Red (TN).
Solar 04 Rundell earned a 3-2 win over Philadelphia SC Coppa (PA-E) in its first National League game as Jasmine Porras, Emory Oldham and Tina Binz all scored for the North Texas side. Kalista Hough would register her first National League goal, and Porras would net her second in a 2-1 win over Baltimore Union SC Elite (MD). Annika Mortensen would score in a 3-1 defeat to GA Rush 04 (GA), but Solar would respond with a 1-1 draw to Libertyville FC (IL) as Hough would net her second goal of the weekend. FC Dallas Blue got off to a slow start in its second National League season, but the former Southern Regional Champions would earn a 2-0 win on the final day of play over NCFC 04 Elite (NC) courtesy of a pair of goals from Lauren Piper.
DKSC 03 Black Hilliard were unable to secure points in its first three games despite two goals from Alexa Fernandez, but the North Texas side would finish the weekend on a high note as Carlie Krueger’s brace combined with a goal from Ria Anand to secure a 3-2 win over Iowa Rush 03 (IA).
Recently crowned 2019 Frontier Conference champions Solar 03 De Leon would go undefeated in its first four National League games. Jonathan Cui and Ryan Greener scored in Solar’s 2-0 win against Washington Rush (WA) before Shirzaad Ghadially netted a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Milwaukee Bavarians (WI). Caiden Chapel scored the lone goal in a 1-0 Solar win against Libertyville FC (IL), while no one would score in Solar’s final match against defending National Champions LVSA 03 Silver (NV).
Timothy Ospina, Emanuel Martinez, Edwin Garcia and Bakari Burgess scored in FC Dallas 03 Premier’s debut National League match, a 4-1 win over La Roca CS (UT). Ayden Mendoza found the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Rebels SC 03 (CA-S), but the defending Southern Regional Champions were unable to secure anymore points over the weekend after losses to Kalamazoo Kingdom (MI) and FC United Pre-Academy (IL).
Sparta FC 02 Elite rolled off three straight shutout wins to begin its second National League season. Brooklyn Holybee, Rylee Rives and Jordan Walker scored in a 3-0 win over STA 2002 (NJ), while Reagan Easter, Grace Jordan, Maycie Massingill and Graycen Rasmussen all found the back of the net in Sparta’s 4-0 win over HMMS Eagles 02 (PA-E). Jordan and Walker would bag their second goals of the weekend, while Margaret Tepera and Cooper Cowan would become Sparta’s eighth and ninth different goal scorers in a 4-0 win over 02 CISC North (NC). Sparta’s winning streak would end on the final day of the weekend with a 1-0 defeat to Team Chicago Academy 02 (IL). Solar Grado struggled in its National League debut, going 0-4 with a pair of goals coming from Amelia Leggett, while Ryann Hernandez and Addison Peters also scored.
Defending National Champions Solar 02 Castro began the National League season with a 2-1 win over SLSG 02 Elite (MO) as Johnathan Sauceda and Anthony Patti found the back of the net. Harvey Castro netted a pair of goals and Jackson Castro added a third in a 3-1 win over FC United 2002 Pre Academy (IL). NWUSA 02 (OR) would get the best of Solar in a 2-1 win despite Sauceda opening the scoring, but the defending National League champions would respond with a 1-1 draw against Brausa 02 Blue (MD) as Garrett Purcell found the back of the net.
After going down 1-0 in its first National League game, Dallas Texans 01 Red responded with goals from Lauren Rhoads, Landry Corbett and Lucy Meadows to secure a 3-1 win over JB Marine (MO). Corbett and Devyn Flannery would find the back of the net in a 2-2 draw against Coppermine SC Premier (MD). Flannery and Rhoads would net their second goals of the weekend in a 2-1 win over 01 CSA North (NC), and Flannery would net a hat trick to lock up a third win for Dallas Texans over Cleveland Force 01 Blue (OH-N).
2019 National Championships semifinalists FC Dallas took care of business in its first two games, each 3-1 wins to open National League play. Jose Ortiz, Byron Aguilar and Edward Knight III each scored in a win over 01 Club CUP (OH-S), while Ortiz would bag a pair of goals to combine with a goal from Joey Perryman in a win over Washington Premier FC (WA). FC Dallas would fall 2-1 to group leaders OC Surf Armour (CA-S), but FC Dallas would rebound on the final day of play as Melvin Calderon, Perryman and Ortiz all found the back of the net in a 4-0 win over Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals (PA-E).
2019 National Championships finalists Solar 01 Stricker drew KHA 01 Red (OH-S) 1-1 to open National League play as Jack Sissen scored for Solar. Robert Pino, Jasub Flores and John Mooney all got on the board in a 3-0 win over SLSG Elite 01 (MO). Solar drew fellow National League veteran Sparta 01 Premier (UT) 3-3 as Flores, Eric Jorgensen and Justin Barnett all scored for Solar. Flores would score his third goal of the weekend against LVU 01 Black (PA-E), but it would not be enough as the defending National League champions fell 2-1.
