The repercussions of physical inactivity world-wide are staggering. We have become a world of physical inactivity which can cause:

Physical Problems

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • Bowel cancer (and other cancers)
  • Asthma
  • Joint disorders
  • Reduced muscle strength
  • Osteopenia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Reduced immune function

The use of soccer to help solve this problem has been investigated by FIFA.

  • Small sided (4 v 4, 6 v 6) games are best
  • 45 – 60 minute sessions two to three times per week

Improvement to blood pressure, VO2max, resting heart rate, lipid profile (cholesterol), body composition, and bone mineral density. It has even been studied as part of a prostate cancer treatment protocol with positive results.

The FIFA for Health Program involves 90 minute sessions split into 45 minute halves.
