From July 19-25, teams from around the country joined in Sarasota, Florida to compete in the USYS National Championships. Seven teams represented North Texas Soccer:
Allegiance FC 07B Black – Pedro
DKSC 05B Carrillo
Solar 02B Sawyer
Solar South 06G FDL S Adames
Sparta FC 04G
FC Dallas Youth 02G Red
Sparta FC 02G Elite
This year, the USYS Championship Series meant more than ever to players. Luke Enlow, a player with Solar 02B Sawyer shared, “With all that has gone on this season with COVID, just being given the chance to compete for a championship is all we can ask for.”
Clay Rasmussen, manager of Sparta FC 04G, felt similarly, saying “The idea that soccer is not a guarantee has been formative. COVID has shown us that every training session, every game, every tournament is not to be taken for granted… that each time we step on the pitch, it is a blessing to play the game we love and not take one touch, one run for granted. We need to leave everything out on the field, every game – sell out for the love of the sport.”
North Texas Soccer teams gave their all on the field, with two teams advancing to the Semifinals – DKSC 05B Carrillo and Solar South 06G FDL S Adames. DKSC 05B Carrillo made history by being the first DKSC team to represent North Texas Soccer in the USYS National Championships. Their journey ended in overtime against Las Vegas Sports Academy 05 Red, with a 1-0 final score.
Solar South 06G FDL S Adames won their Semifinal game against Club Ohio 2006G Green and moved forward to Finals, playing La Roca FC 06. In the fast-paced game, goals were made by Emeri Adames (2), Kennedy Fuller and Brooklyn Miller for a Title-winning score of 4-1.
We are so proud of our 15U Girls National Champions, Solar South 06G FDL S ADAMES, and all of the teams that competed in the National Championships.
In the words of player Regan Easter from Sparta FC 02G Elite, “to see all the hard work finally pay off is a great feeling.”
